Prepare Your Water Heater for Earthquakes
Earthquakes can happen anytime. It’s important to properly brace your water heater in case of an earthquake. According to The California Seismic Safety Commission, a loose or improperly braced water heater can cause broken gas lines and gas leaks, fires, broken water lines that can lead to flooding.
Living in California inherently comes with risk of earthquakes, so it’s important that your contractor knows the importance of securing your water heater properly. Whether it’s a remodel or a new construction, talk to your contractor about the steps you want to take to make sure your home is prepared for a little shaking.
